The million dollar question…Why pay someone to organize when I can do it myself for free?
Hi friends,
We’re going to call this my BIRTHDAY ISSUE. :) As I’ve been spending this year (or as I like to refer to it, “chapter”) getting to know many different types of people, I’ve learned a lot of reasons as to their WHY on choosing to invest in a professional organizer.
When people ask me what I do for a living and I tell them I’m a professional organizer, 9 times out of 10 their 1st response is either:
1) What all does that include?
2) People PAY for you to do that?
Or, my personal favorite…
3) Oh my gosh, please hire me. Organizing is my FAVVVVV.
A lot of my social media, website, and previous newsletters explain number 1. Basically, I help others make their spaces functional, declutter, file, tidy, and put systems in place to avoid getting to that point in life (or moving through it/getting past it).
Now you might be wondering… What is that point? If you don’t know, well how does it feel to be God’s favorite? Haha! Kidding…
That point is when you feel like there’s no end in sight, there’s no more time at the end of the day, there’s no way you can figure it out, it’s like you can’t catch up much less get ahead of whatever it is you’re trying to tackle.
There’s so much more to what professional organizers do that people aren’t aware of. It’s not always beautiful baskets, matching hangers, aesthetically appealing spaces, and perfect pantries.
Which leads us to number 2.
People pay for professional organizers because they need someone to help them figure out a problem, another set of hands, designated time, or they might not able to get something done by themselves.
There’s MANY reasons people pay for this service.
They might be at that point.
The overwhelming.
The depressed.
The chaotic.
The stressed.
The sad.
The busy.
The “everything is amazing, but I can’t do it all alone.”
The LIFE.
People pay for therapists (sometimes multiple therapists!!!), private trainers, meal planners, cleaners, accountants, advisors, and soooo many other professions.
NOT ONE OF THOSE ACTUALLY HELP YOUR HOME…
Your home is just that, your HOME. That’s where everything that is crucially important to you stays.
Shouldn’t it be invested in too?
Do you not deserve it?
Does your family not deserve it?
Paying a professional organizer to come into your home and help you make sure it’s functional for your family, is absolutely an investment. It’s making sure you have a system in place that is easy to handle despite all of the busy things you have going on. It’s making sure that you feel CALM in your house. It’s taking one thing off your to do list, and hopefully preventing that list from growing.
Can YOU go and buy organizing materials and do it yourself?
YES. The million dollar question about being able to organize your home… Yes, you CAN do it.
But then you buy the stuff, you’re motivated to renew your space… and then life happens. Those new organizing materials might just be more clutter or aren’t efficient at all.
When someone hires me they’re making an investment in their home. An investment that is confidential, respected, and one that I try to “over-deliver” on. I will always try to go above and beyond for my clients. I spend much more time thinking about your spaces than what is shown in the session. I think about what could be done different, what can be improved, what can be made easier, and how it affects everyone in your household.
If you’re needing support while preparing for upcoming holidays, or just trying to make your day to day life easier - call me. If you don’t want to hire me for whatever reason, I’ll help you find someone who can (I have an entire network of people around the country, and I’m very familiar with other local organizers).
Just remember, you deserve it.
