A Complete Home Clean Out: From Cluttered to Clear

At Structured Clarity, we recently took on a major home clean out for a client preparing to move. Over the years, the home had accumulated an overwhelming amount of belongings, making it difficult to navigate and maintain. Life happens - and with that sometimes our homes become less of a priority. Our client chose Structured Clarity to help overcome their unsafe environment and turn to the next chapter of her life. Our goal was to clear the space, make thoughtful decisions about what to keep, and give our client a fresh start in her new home.

Step 1: Sorting and Organizing

The first step was tackling the sheer volume of items, sorting through clothing, furniture, kitchenware, and sentimental belongings. We worked closely with our client to determine what she wanted to keep, donate, or discard, ensuring that everything had a purpose.

Sometimes even professional organizers agree that things need to be kept! Ha!

Step 2: Refreshing and Repurposing

Many items were still in good condition but needed a little care. We took salvageable clothing and linens to the laundry mat, ensuring they were ready to wear or use again. Usable, no longer needed, household items were donated to local charities, helping others while clearing space.

The laundry mat we used was Wash Em Up in Midland, TX. This is a 24 hour location providing laundry services at a fair price. They were very patient with us as we brought in a few hundred pounds of things to wash. Wash Em Up took extra care of certain blankets and quilts for our client that were very fragile. We took the majority of our donations to Senior Life of Midland. They take donations and sell them at their Texas Sized Garage Sell, with profits benefiting the elderly community. We want to make sure that we give credit where credit is due - and they are nothing short of incredible. They truly went the extra mile for us when we had a situation with donated clothes. Our client gave us permission to donate certain clothes, but once she realized they were really gone, she had a lot of anxiety and emotions about it. Lucio, who is in charge of transferring their donations, helped us recover the clothing. When one particular pair of pants was still missing he went out of his way to find them. Two weeks later he called us and was so excited to let us know he found them!!! His nonjudgment, compassion, hardwork, and pure kindness is nothing short of honorable. We gathered a basket of goodies for him to show our appreciation. Step 3: Packing and Moving

For valuables and sentimental items, we carefully packed and transported them to her new home or storage unit. This allowed her to start fresh without feeling overwhelmed by excess clutter.

Brothers Moving and Storage work with us repeatedly to give our clients the easiest transition. They are fair priced, and whether it’s moving large items to a donation center, transferring things to a local storage center, or moving items across the state - they get it done smoothly every time. Our client had a piece of art that she was very concerned about moving across the state. Brothers Moving wrapped it very carefully and ensured that it was not damaged whatsoever as they moved her things. Step 4: Clearing and Repairs

Once the home was emptied, we took on additional projects to restore the space. We dismantled old playground equipment, removed a tree branch that was falling (during one of our recent West Texas wind storms), and even repaired the roof on a storage building (again, thanks to yet another wind storm haha). Finally, we gave the home a deep clean, ensuring it was move-in ready for its next chapter. Our team of contractors are incredible at helping last minute, ensuring even details are taken care of, and always providing top notch service to our clients.

A Fresh Start

By the end of the process, the transformation was incredible. What once felt unmanageable and unsafe became a cleared, open space. Seeing our client feel lighter and more at ease made all the hard work worth it.
